| K-grams, Inc. Advisory Boards |
Those who do not wish to serve on our Board
of Directors are alternatively encouraged to join one of our
Advisory Boards.
What is the function of the Advisory Boards?
They serve in an informal capacity to provide direction and advice
to our student leadership, Board of Directors, and National Staff.
The individuals who comprise the Boards are leaders in their respective
fields who are willing to extend advice on pertinent matters of
K-grams.
Unlike the Board of Directors, this group of individuals is not
held liable for the happenings within K-grams. Rather, it serves
as a sounding board for pertinent issues brought to it via our
different layers of leadership. Each Advisory Board meets 1-2
times each year (currently in Ann
Arbor, MI.)
Who are the Advisory Boards composed of?
There are currently four separate Advisory Boards with different
aims. The elementary and higher education boards are open to anyone
(educators, families, business affiliates, etc) while the student
boards remain just for their respective audience. These boards
all represent the primary audiences in the K-grams relationship
as listed below:
Elementary Education -
deals primarily with defining learning techniques and implementation
strategies with regard to our younger students' learning styles.
It also tackles other topics such as parent involvement, proper
access to staff and classrooms, evaluating school relationships,
and more.
Higher Education - focuses
on college leadership development and the best implementation
of services offered by the older students. This includes organizational
advice, campus tips and suggestions, recruiting college students
and administration, and finding financial or space resources.
College Student - serves
as one of the many voices for the student
leadership to have an active voice in the happenings of
the organization. Once K-grams has a stable number of college
chapters, this board will develop into an official authoritative
council of students.
Elementary Student - remains
one of our most vibrant and educational outlets for voices within
the organization. Elementary students participate in "formal"
discussions about what they like and don't like about school
and Kids Programs!
