| Student Leadership Drives K-grams |
At the heart of our college and elementary leadership
is that all of our local chapters remain student-run. College
students' initiative and programming remain at the core of K-grams
and its ability to propel forward.
How is each Chapter structured?
Each College Chapter is led by a student board and Executive Director
that is appointed by his or her peers. This board decides the
scope and outcome of Kids Programs on their campus. Each year,
this leadership turns over between students; please feel free
to look at the U-Mich
Model to gain an idea of the leadership structure with a full-sized
programming council.
What are other opportunities outside of local chapters?
College student leaders also make decisions for K-grams as a whole
national organization. This is accomplished through working with
their Regional Liaisons,
collaborating with other schools, attending National Conferences,
and working on one of our Advisory
Boards or interning with our National
Staff. There are many other opportunities that have yet to
be explored!
What will I gain as a student leader in K-grams?
Student leaders expand their skill set and gain valuable tangible
and intangible skills through organizing K-grams on their campus.
Not only will you develop strong recruiting, event planning, and
fundraising skills, but the program creates responsible, civic-minded
individuals who are more attune to recognizing and responding
to their communities' needs. You also have the opportunity to
establish friendships and network with others through a shared
common interest. The experiences and benefits
are endless!

K-grams attracts students who like working with kids, want to
build relationships across communities, and have a willingness
to :). If you'd like to be involved in setting up a K-grams Chapter
at your college or university, please sign
up for our Local Network. We are looking for students who
can help recruit pen pals and get people excited about K-grams!
