| Visiting Classrooms for Projects |
Class projects are "edu-active" (both
"educational" and "interactive") activities
where college students interact with and engage students in their
classrooms. These special "kids programs" provide college
students with an opportunity to visit the classrooms on a regular
basis and work with students face-to-face.
What classroom opportunities are there?
Student-initiated projects range from science experiments, tye-dying,
gardening, playing instruments, school clean-ups - the list goes
on! These fun activities provide essential time for the pen pals
to interact and get to know each other better while also learning
something new!
The pen pals enjoy the projects because they are:
- Fun!
- An innovative method of learning
- Conducted by someone other than their teacher
- An engaging opportunity for kids to ask questions about college
life
"The kids love having connections/relationships
with college students."
- Northside Elementary School teacher
"College students have exciting
things to tell elementary students"
- Ms. Barnett, 3rd grade teacher
